About the owner:

Ariel Bullion Ecklund earned a B.F.A. in Art Photography and a M.A. degree in Museum Studies. Following her training, Ariel gained valuable experience working in book and paper conservation, as a freelance photographer, and with a wide range of collections in numerous museums. Ariel is indebted to her mother, Brenda Bullion, a single mother, an artist and a scholar, who first sparked her interest and appreciation in art, architecture and design.

During her downtime, Ariel enjoys working in ceramics and photography, being active on the many trails in Ithaca, and spending time with her family. Ariel has been a resident of Ithaca since 1979. Ariel’s work can be found on her website www.arielecklund.com.

The official back story:

In 2010, Ariel Bullion Ecklund purchased Corners Gallery from her previous employers. With much hard work and determination, it took Ariel six years to pay off the loan. Since then, the business has gone through major physical transformation- with the renovation of the existing Corners Gallery location in 2014, as well as the addition of a large exhibition space.

In late 2020, following eleven years of building relationships with satisfied clients and art enthusiasts alike, Ariel partnered with Rachel Philipson, a local photographer and designer, to create the living room, a new shop which celebrated art, design, and interior spaces.

In January of 2022, the two women decided the living room had been a fun experiment, but decided to end the partnership. As a result, the living room closed, but Corners Gallery remains a vital resource for artists and art lovers in Ithaca and the surrounding areas.
